Our Unique Process

Has your family outgrown your living space? Is your kitchen too cramped? Is your bathroom outdated? Are you not utilizing your outdoor space? Have you recently looked around your home and simply said "wow – we could really use an upgrade"?

There are so many reasons to remodel, but without the proper structure and guidelines in place, a project can suffer from cost overruns, schedule delays, and miscommunications. These issues can be incredibly frustrating for homeowners.

Custom Design & Construction makes it our highest priority to avoid these problems, and we do so through our proprietary remodeling process: The Design2Completion System.™ This innovative methodology is completely unique to our company and truly sets us apart from any others in the remodeling field.

The Design2Completion System™ is an all-inclusive process that seamlessly handles all phases of your project – including design, construction, and financing. We emphasize communication, organization, and time management in order to provide a remodeling project that flows smoothly and efficiently – on time, on target, and on budget.

The Design2Completion System™ consists of these six steps:

The Design 2 Completion Process Diagram

1. Discovery

To begin, we invite you into our office for a one-on-one meeting to see our environment and meet the people that have made us successful for 22 years. First and foremost, we would like you to share with us your vision for your home and what it could be. You'll get a chance to meet us in person, discuss our capabilities, and most importantly, decide how we can help you. If we agree that we're a good fit for each other, we proceed to step two – Design Composition.

2. Design Composition

All spectacular homes begin with outstanding designs. Using state of the art technology, our talented, award-winning designers will take your vision and create a distinctive rendering of what your project will look like as well as a full set of architectural plans ready for permits.

Our fully integrated approach provides you with several important benefits. Because the process is handled in-house, it often cuts weeks off development, thereby saving you time. By saving this time, we limit your costs, making it much more economical than commissioning a separate architect. Further, by involving both our design and construction teams at an early stage, we ensure that everyone is on the same conceptual page from the very beginning of your project, which reduces miscommunication during the remodel.

We start our design process by coming out to your home and measuring the entire house as well as noting all existing conditions. Shortly thereafter, we meet in our office to present you with several options that meet your needs. We then pick and choose from those options to fine tune the exact scope of work. With your vision now formalized into a set of architectural plans, we move to the third phase of the process – The One-Step Finance Solution.

3. The One-Step Finance Solution

If you should desire, Custom Design & Construction can remove your need to go to a bank or liquidate other investments. This is done through our in-house financing - The One Step Finance Solution.

Though we have many traditional financing options available, we are also able to offer you private in-house financing on a short-term or permanent basis. To our knowledge, we are the only remodeling firm in the nation to do so.

Utilizing our in-house financing program allows for quick approvals and a speedy closing process, with no waiting for bank approvals, appraisals, or paperwork. Details can be arranged in our office or right in your own home, eliminating trips to the bank. And because we will be carrying your financing, we will be as concerned as you with where you are investing your dollars.

Further, unlike most traditional financial institutions, we can finance up to 100% of your project, allowing you to keep your cash invested elsewhere. In most cases, your project financing will be tax deductible. With financing secured, we can proceed to the fourth step in our process – Material Selection.

4. Material Selection

Material selection includes picking out everything from a brushed nickel faucet fixture to a Viking cooktop to that perfect stain for your new set of French doors.

Selecting the perfect colors, accents, materials, and products makes your project come to life and transforms the remodeled house into the remodeled home. However, without guidance, this process can feel overwhelming. To address this, you will receive personal assistance from our experienced design team who will escort you through the selection process.

You will be provided with an array of finishes and fixtures, as well as top of the line appliances and products from which to choose. You will then work hand-in-hand with our team to assemble the perfect combinations.

Our clients find the process to be effortless and, in fact, enjoyable. An added benefit is that this approach avoids unexpected construction delays that can arise from selecting discontinued or back-ordered products.

5. Personalized Construction

With design, financing, and material selection completed, your home now enters the construction phase. This is where your conceptual dream becomes a physical reality.

We maintain an artisan-like pride in our workmanship, but we combine that with a utilization of the latest building technology. Utilizing the latest software, materials, and techniques (including "green" building"), our craftsmen merge unparalleled quality with streamlined efficiency.

You will be assigned a project manager who shoulders the responsibility and accountability for your project at all times. Our managers take pride in their respectful nature and their availability to you.

The building sequence itself will flow in an orchestrated manner from our pre-scheduled itinerary. In addition to the availability of your project manager, additional communication is facilitated through the clients-only, password-protected section of our website, our onsite homeowner handbook, and weekly client meetings.

6. The Finale

The final step of our unique process emphasizes an area where all too many remodeling contractors fail to measure up – the conclusion. It's been said that the last ten percent of a project can be the most frustrating. To address this concern, one week prior to completion a final walk-through is undertaken, ensuring that all of your expectations have been met and exceeded.

At the conclusion of your project you will receive a signed warranty along with any corresponding manuals and instructions for care. If you should find you need assistance in the future, our client service team is a phone call away.

We hope that, at the end of the day, you are as happy as we are with your finished remodel. If so, we would love for you to tell your family, friends, and coworkers about us, as referrals are truly our most common source of business.

A Complete Process Yielding Extraordinary Results

At the end of the six-step Design2Completion System,™ Custom Design & Construction will have provided you with a truly pleasurable remodeling experience resulting in a stunning, newly remodeled home born out of your own vision.
