Decorate with the color of the year

HGTV.com provides tips on decorating with the 2011 color of the year, honeysuckle.

Get Creative

Designer Allison Cosmos brightened this outdoor retreat with a lively burst of honeysuckle. "For the damask door design, I created the damask repeat that would ignore the architecture of the door," she says. The glossy white and pink are a friendly contrast against the charcoal gray backdrop and look pretty paired with lime green accents.

Don't Forget the Walls

Nothing says country cottage quite like the sweet honeysuckle walls and green-accented chairs in this dining room. Set against crisp, white molding and decor, the light pink walls open up the room and invite in plenty of natural light.

Play With Color

Designer Candice Olson incorporated various shades of pink in this charming cottage-style living room, from honeysuckle table runners and pastel accents to puce chandelier lampshades and coral throw pillows. The white sofa, area rug and walls allow the pink hues to stand out and make a soft, feminine statement.

Take Inspirations From Nature

To integrate the room's natural, outdoor surroundings into her design plan, designer Madelyn Simon created a unique, honeysuckle-hued wall hanging containing 740 silk roses to match the live roses just outside. The sweeping views and dramatic use of pink provide all the color this living room needs.

Go Bold

Don’t limit your use of honeysuckle to just an accent hue. The vibrant, pink sofa, area rug and built-in background present a dramatic use of the color, while the white shelves and charcoal-gray walls provide just the right amount of contrast.

Make It Dynamic

To accentuate the elegant and ornate details of this English-style kitchen, designer Dave Stimmel played with honeysuckle, gold and creamy beige. The pink curtains and patterned seat cushions pull out the pink design from the wallpaper for a dynamic feel without appearing too busy or overwhelming.

Pair It Up

With plenty of Southern charm and glam, this lime green living room gracefully showcases the soft, yet dramatic, honeysuckle window treatments for an unexpected feminine touch and color contrast. Design by Shelly Riehl David

Brighten Neutrals

Designer David Bromstad spiced up this beige space with deep burgundy, yellow and touches of honeysuckle. To brighten the burgundy sofa, he added dimension and contrast with shaggy, white pillows and small, pink accent pillows. The pink orchids and lampshade carry the hue into the kitchen for an additional pop of color.

Coordinate Sister Shades

The gold and honeysuckle damask pillows are an ideal accompaniment to the bold fuchsia slipper chairs and velvet ottoman. The light pink accent and gold tassels tone down the deeper hue while still providing a coordinated color scheme. Design by Shelly Riehl David
